Learn to Paint at the Y

YMCA art classes encourage self-expression and critical thinking while developing your child’s imagination and building their self-esteem.  Exposure to the arts creates a better understanding of the various cultures and backgrounds that make up our community and helps foster uplifting relationships.

AGES:  6 –10

WHEN: Fridays, September 28 to October 26 (5 Weeks) 6:30 pm-7:15 pm

BSY Torpedo Swim Team

2018-19 Short Course season:  9/17-3/24

BSY Torpedo Training groups:

8 and Under (6 – 8 Year Olds) – Introduces our youngest Torpedoes to the 4 competitive strokes (backstroke, butterfly, breaststroke and freestyle), starts, turns and most importantly ENJOYMENT through swimming. Swimmers are also introduced to competition through USA Swimming and YMCA Swimming with the goal that all swimmers will enjoy the experience and look forward to more. Attendance: Minimum 1 practice per week, meets optional.

Age Group   (9 – 12 Year Olds) – Swimmers build upon the fundamentals of the 4 competitive strokes and work to increase their overall swimming ability confidence.  Swimmers are encouraged to swim outside of their comfort strokes and to work towards new and exciting opportunities in practice and competition. Attendance: Minimum 2 practices per week, meets encouraged.

Senior  (13 and Older) – Senior swimmers are expected to take ownership of their swimming and are taught the necessary skills to be successful in the pool and in life.  Swimmers work closely with coaches on setting individual goals and working to achieve their goals. Attendance:  3-4 practices per week, all meets encouraged.

No School, No Worries

September 10 and 19

Even though schools are closed, the Stratford YMCA is here for your child care needs. Drop your child off with our experienced staff for a fun-filled day of games, activities, arts & crafts, swimming, and more!

Please bring a nut-free lunch, a bathing suit, and a towel. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items, so please leave your electronics at home. Preregistration is required. Registration ends two days before event so we can staff properly.

  • Grades: 5-12
  • 7:30 am – 6:00 pm
  • Members- $50 |   Community- $100

Additional Info: All participants not currently in the before/after school program or summer camp program will need to complete a registration packet, provide a current health form, and medication/medication authorization form, if needed, prior to attending the Y Vacation Club.

Plan, Prepare, Eat Clean

Wellness Workshop: Clean Eating 101

Fueling your body with the right foods is just as important as your workouts! Be a part of our Wellness Workshop series and learn more about clean eating, prepping healthy meals to get you through a busy week, how to eat right for your level of exercise, and share healthy recipes with the group.  Gina Pezzullo will lead this first series of workshops.

Who:  ANYONE ages 16 and up interested in learning more about healthy eating and meal prep.

When: Wednesdays 6-7 pm September 19- October 10

Fee: FREE to YMCA Facility Members / $25.00 for Community Members

Full facility members can bring a friend to try the Y, free! Introduce your friends to your Y family. Try a group x class or enjoy the Wellness Center together. Guests must show a valid photo ID and register with Member Services – each friend can visit up to two times.



Teaching Healthy Habits

Adults connect with one another through exercise classes and group activities. Kids flock to Y sites before and after school to do homework and have fun.
