Team sports at the Y build character and self-esteem. Participants cultivate values, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health and educational achievement. Kids will not only learn the fundamentals and how to work together on a team, but also who they are and what they can achieve.
Our programs include parent child, pre-school, youth, special needs and teen enrichment programs. We offer dance, music, a sports sampler, tennis, basketball, softball, soccer, theatre, crafting, and more. We also offer more advanced classes for children who have taken our sports classes before.

Hit the Slopes with Friends
Ski, Snowboard, Tube
Gather your friends and register for Soundview Family YMCA Ski Club! Ski, Snowboard, & Tube every Friday for 4 or 6 weeks at the Powder Ridge Mountain Park and Resort in Middlefield CT! All in grades 5-8 are welcome to join! On scheduled trip dates, we will leave Walsh Intermediate School promptly at 3:30pm. Students from schools other than Walsh must provide their own transportation to Walsh on trip dates. We will arrive back at Walsh around 8:45pm.

Y Stands For Youth
Youth in our Branch Wellness Center
Our Youth Wellness Orientation Bracelet Program is designed for youth members ages 10-13 who would like to use our Wellness Center while their parent is in the room. Youth will be given FREE trainings with one of our Wellness Coaches to learn about each aspect of the Wellness Center. Youth members will learn proper technique, safety and etiquette of gym fitness. Schedule your appointment today at the Member Welcome Center.
Wellness Center: Yellow Bracelet
Youth members 10-13 years of age are permitted to exercise on the cardiovascular equipment with a parent after completing a free orientation with a Wellness Coach. The youth member must wear a yellow wristband when working out in the Branch.
Wellness Center: Blue Bracelet
Youth members 12-13 years of age are permitted to exercise on the strength equipment with a parent after completing a free orientation with a Wellness Coach. The youth member must wear a blue wristband when working out in the Branch. Prerequisite: Must have completed yellow bracelet training.

FIZZ BUBBLE GOO
Ever make gooey slime or your own bubbles? Come perform fun science experiments from explosions of volcanoes to making your own ice cream and so much more! Through projects and experiments, participants will learn that science is fun! Instructor: Laura Location: Program Room
The Zumba® Kids program is the ultimate dance-fitness party for young Zumba fans, where they can play it loud and rock with friends to their own rules! This program features age-appropriate music and moves that get kids movin’ to the beat. ZUMBA® KIDS JR.
Zumba® Kids Jr. classes are a dance ‘n’ play party for lil’ feet where pint-sized party animals get silly, dream big and begin their journey to a healthy future. This program is where 4 to 6 year-olds just let loose and be themselves – little bundles of natural energy that are endlessly curious about new sounds and experiences! Learn the basics of soccer while having fun and practicing with friends! Each week will be dedicated to learning a different skill and each session will conclude with a game. Your child will have fun mastering old skills and learning new ones. Every participant will get a Y ball!
The perfect opportunity for your child to express their creative side! Each week children will create their own projects and listen to music. Your child will be proud to be a creative kid! Location: Community Room

BEGINNER BALLET AND BASIC ACRO
Bring your ballet slippers and get ready to move your feet! Learn the basics of ballet, acro, and an understanding of the art of dance. A recital will be held at the end of each session to show off what participants have learned. Location: Multipurpose Room Instructor: Lisa

Youth Basketball Clinic
Learn to play the fabulous game of basketball! Develop the necessary skills too succeed through drills, fun games and scrimmages at the end of each session. Location: Sliney School

DISCIPLINE, DEDICATION, SELF-CONFIDENCE
A fun way to develop respect for yourself and for others. Traditional teaching methods of martial arts will help to increase flexibility, control weight, and enhance fitness. This class explores fundamentals of Judo and self-defense basics. Exercise your mind and body.
Tumbling combines strength, power, agility and coordination that is used in a variety of sports that one would not expect. Your child will work on basic locomotion skills as well as the basics of gymnastics such as forward rolls, backward rolls, handstands and so much more!
Ages: Parties for ages 2 and older
Our specialty parties are designed to make your child’s party the BEST EVER! We offer party packages to fit everyone’s needs. Our parties provide you with an hour of a specialty activity and an hour in our party room. A host is provided to help make your party run smoothly. Parties offered on Saturday and Sundays.
