After School
After School Program
The After-School Program runs Monday through Thursday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. and serves at-risk youth in grades K-8. Our program provides a safe haven and opportunities to the youth in the East End of Bridgeport. Each child is assisted in completing schoolwork or assigned worksheets, receives a healthy snack and participates in a rotating schedule of activities that includes dance, performing arts, arts and crafts, and sports rather than the company of the TV set or the local street corner. Programs run throughout the school year.
Homework Club
Today parents need to work many hours and are not available to assist with homework as they would like to; we’re here to help! The Homework Center is open Monday-Thursday from 3:00-6:00 PM. Staff and volunteers work with students in grades K-8, as well as high school students who express an interest. Our board, staff, parents and volunteers are committed to helping all youth participants achieve success in school. Students will also have the opportunity to utilize our computer lab for assistance.
Educational Workshops
Ages: 4 – 12
Our After-School programs offer a wide variety of Educational Workshops, ranging from reading and writing skills, math skills and even manners. Our workshops are intended to help children get a boost in their educational experiences.
Field Trips
Ages: 4 – 12
We offer a variety of field trips from local museums to movies which are intended to be both educational and culturally enlightening.
Mentoring
The Taylor Center provides mentoring for children who need extra help in courses like math, science or just need that boost of confidence to get work done themselves.
