The summer is the perfect time to try something completely new! This year, why not get fit while embracing the sun and water? Water exercise is great for people of all ages and fitness levels! It’s a therapeutic workout and a great calorie burn!

If you’re 15 or older and looking for a great part time job or a challenging career, that’s in demand, the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Program is one of the best places to start. Lifeguarding lets you work as part of a team to help people safely enjoy the water. You could even save a life!

Whether you are a dancer looking to prepare for the upcoming season or deciding to try something new for the summer—this camp is for you! This boot camp is sure to put the body to work by exploring basic ballet movement through a classical ballet technique, body conditioning, flexibility, stage presentation, and quality of movement. Dancers will expand their ballet vocabulary while challenging the mind and body through short, fun conversational and physical exercises that will give them a deeper understanding of the dance discipline and result in physical strong and confidence in what their bodies can do!

Learn the fundamentals of ballet through fun floor work, barre, and combination exercises. All while dancing to your favorite princess songs that will have you spinning on your toes all summer long!
Class begins on June 25 and runs for 4 weeks.

Are you interested in lifeguarding – but not quite old enough yet? This course gives 13 to 15 year olds a sneak peek into what it takes to become a great lifeguard. The program is designed to be completed over 3 summers and allows you to gain an introduction to lifeguarding, lifesaving skills, leadership skills, fitness and professional development. Digital certificate available upon successful completion of each course.

To provide youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. This training will help participants to develop leadership skills; learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and help children behave; and learn about basic child care and basic first aid. The recommended age for this course is 11-15 years old. This class will be taught at the Lakewood-Trumbull YMCA Family Outdoor Center.

The Lakewood Lightning Swim Team 2017 season is rapidly approaching! Once again we will be having one unified team, intended to benefit everyone. We will have daily practices as well as swim meets throughout the summer. Our meets are designed to give swimmers a fun opportunity to showcase their skills and demonstrate how hard they have worked in practice.

Nestled in an undeveloped wooded area of Monroe, participants at the Lakewood-Trumbull YMCA Outdoor Center have been delighted by its charming atmosphere. With 47 acres of land, the possibilities of fun, relaxation and exploration are endless.
Whether you are looking to unwind in the sun by one of our three pools, learn to swim, or get competitive one one of our two tennis courts, basketball courts or gaga pits, there is something for everyone.
From Memorial Day to Labor Day, embark out on our lake in paddle boats or improve your golfing skills on our mini golf course. Be on the lookout for opportunities that allow you to participate in fun activities for kids of all ages through arts & crafts, tie dye, sports activities, water games, and the ever popular obstacle course. Adults are not left out while we organize family fun activities such as the 4th of July Great American Bash, S’more Nights and a Summer Luau.
Located at 204 Stanley Road in Monroe, the YMCA Family Outdoor Center is open Memorial Day through Labor Day.

In our CIT program, they will receive valuable job interviewing skills, child care training, leadership experience, teambuilding and problem solving skills. The Lakewood-Trumbull YMCA gymnastics team has been inspiring and helping children achieve their goals since the 1980’s. Through the years the Y has produced multiple State and Regional champions as well as State and Regional team championships. Our gymnasts learn, through fun and discipline, the ability to achieve their goals. We believe that if a child believes in themselves and trains hard, then anything, even the amazing sport of Gymnastics can be achieved.
