Common Myths About College Admissions – What you really need to know about the application process!

Lauren Tropp of Tropp Educational Consulting will be addressing what colleges look for in successful applicants and the importance of finding a college where you can thrive. She will be joined by Ron Sabad, President of Real Solutions Educational Consulting, Inc., who specializes in SAT and ACT test preparation. Ron will address the subtle differences between the tests, how to decide which test is best for you, and when you should plan to take the test.

Let’s Hang Out!

Y Night designed for Grades 5-8

Y Night is created for our youth and young teens so they can enjoy a fun filled evening with friends in a safe, supervised environment. Activities include open gymnastics, dodge ball, 3 on 3 basketball and dancing. Participants can also visit the complimentary ice cream sundae bar, or purchase a snack from our concession stand. The Y has professional leaders to oversee all Y Nights.

When: Friday, October 19 8:00-11:00pm

There’s Never TuTu Many Dancing Ballet Princessess

BALLET  PRINCESS WORKSHOP

FOR AGES: 4-7

Learn the fundamentals of ballet through fun floor work, barre, and combination exercises. All while dancing to your favorite princess songs that will have you spinning on your toes!

Full facility members can bring a friend to try the Y, free! Introduce your friends to your Y family. Try a group x class or enjoy the Wellness Center together. Guests must show a valid photo ID and register with Member Services – each friend can visit up to two times.

It’s a Dance Date with your Baby

Tiny Tutus  (Mommy & Me; Caregiver Class)

FOR AGES 2-3

Register for Tiny Tutus Dance Class!

A series of fun movement and games, this class is for walkers and their grown-up companions to take a wonderful opportunity to stretch and play together. Traditional ballet positions and moves have been modified and adapted to a playful format and to fun music your baby will enjoy!

Move it. Groove it. Hip Hop it!

LITTLE HIP HOPPERS DANCE (NON PERFORMING)

AGES:  5-7

Our new Little Hip Hoppers class is where all dancers are encouraged to express themselves through their own personal style! Participants will be introduced to beginner dance vocabulary as they learn the latest moves in Hip Hop dance! This class is sure to be a fun way to get you child moving and grooving to their favorite tunes in Hip Hop and Pop music!

WHEN: Tuesdays, 5:30PM – 6:15PM

Halloween at the Y

PumpkinJoin us for our annual spooktacular Halloween event!

Enjoy a costume contest, trick or treating, arts and crafts, kids activities & more!

When:  Saturday, October 27 5:00-7:00pm

Fees:  Facility Members Free / Community Members $5/person $20/Family

This event fills fast every year, register today to ensure you and your family can join the fun.  Space is limited.  Appropriate for ages 10 & under. Parents must attend with children.


Halloween Hip Hop For a Cause

Join us to raise $1,000 so we can dance and sweat in Paulette’s Cardio Hip Hop class with Paulette and our Executive Director, Matt LaPrino! He’ll be in costume — how about you? Every dollar raised will be for Y scholarships – so that others in our community can enjoy the Lakewood-Trumbull Y and classes like Cardio Hip Hop.

Donate $10? $20?  It’s going to be the best class ever! Donations can be made with cash or check to the Lakewood-Trumbull Y.

Push, Challenge, Stretch Yourself

Obstacle Race Training Program

Our 8 week training program will get you ready, toughen you up, and push you in ways you have never thought possible. Once, twice, or three times a week, you’ll learn to run, to flip tires, to climb walls, to pull weights, in preparation of your first Spartan Race or Tough Mudder, or just because you want the challenge.

When:  Wednesdays 9:30-10:30, Fridays 9:30-10:30, Saturdays 8:15-9:15 September 5—October 27

Location:  Family Program Center on Trefoil Drive, Trumbull CT

Fees: $60 Facility members / $120 Community Members

 


Teaching Healthy Habits

Adults connect with one another through exercise classes and group activities. Kids flock to Y sites before and after school to do homework and have fun. Everyone looks forward to adventures in our dance and gymnastics programs. And families come to the Y to enjoy time together. Lakewood-Trumbull Gymnastics Team

The Lakewood-Trumbull YMCA gymnastics team has been inspiring and helping children achieve their goals since the 1980’s. Through the years the Y has produced multiple State and Regional champions as well as State and Regional team championships. Our gymnasts learn, through fun and discipline, the ability to achieve their goals. We believe that if a child believes in themselves and trains hard, then anything, even the amazing sport of Gymnastics can be achieved.
