Safety Around Water

Keep kids and families safer

Register for our fun, five day, free community wide program which teaches youth water safety skills.  Children will learn how to respond if they find themselves in unexpected water situations – from how to reach the water’s surface if they submerge to safely reaching a pool’s edge or exiting a body of water.  (Similar skills are taught in Y Swim Lesson Programs.)

AGES: Children, preschool and up

WHEN:  June 15 – June 19

FEES:  Free with registration

Before and After School Programs

Located at:  Fawn Hollow and Stepney Elementary Schools.

Full week programs, part time programs and drop in programs are available.

Activities include: Homework support, Arts and Crafts, Computer time, Outdoor recreation (weather permitting), and other exciting activities.  Healthy snacks served in our afternoon program.

Good Friends, Great Nights

Y Teen Night Friday, May 22 8-11pm!

Get a balanced plate of fun, exercise, and the chance to be with friends for three safe hours at the Y.  3 on 3 basketball, dodge ball, gymnastics open-gym are just a few programs offered during this fun time.  Visit the ice cream sundae bar and bring cash for the concession stand.  The Y has professional leader to oversee all Y Teen Nights.

Who:  Grades 5-8

Registration:  Limit 175 Teens.  Register before 8:30pm, May 21 for the early bird discount.  Registration on Friday over the phone will end at 7pm and online at 7:30pm.   Waivers are required for every Y teen night.  If you register online, you will fill out an electronic waiver.     Teen Night Waiver

Fees:  Early Bird Registration:  Facility Members FREE / Community Members $10.00.  After Early Bird Registration:  Facility Members $10.00 Community Members $20.00



As we strive to make your time at our Y enjoyable for the entire family, we’ve added more Family Facility Member benefits!  Your school age child is welcome to join us every day after school from 4:00 – 4:45pm to get moving.  Check out this awesome schedule:

Lakewood Lightning Swim Team

Ages: 6 – 15 years

The Lakewood Lightning Swim Team 2015 season is rapidly approaching!  Once again we will be having one unified team, intended to benefit everyone.  We will have daily practices as well as swim meets throughout the summer.  Our meets are designed to give swimmers a fun opportunity to showcase their skills and demonstrate how hard they have worked in practice.

Registration: Registration will begin on March 1.  Online registration is unavailable for the Lakewood Lightning swim team.

Relax, Explore and Play at Our Outdoor YMCA

Outdoor CenterOur 47 acre facility includes 3 pools, 2 tennis courts a pond for fishing as well as boating, basketball, mini golf, and the pool side grill.  Located at 204 Stanley Road in Monroe, the Y Family Outdoor Center is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

The Lakewood-Trumbull YMCA Family Outdoor Center has been serving the community since 1959.   Whether you are looking for a relaxing environment to read and lay in the sun, take part in swimming lessons, or our summer swim team, or bring your family for a great experience of fun and exploration.  The Lakewood-Trumbull Y has something for everyone.  With a 6 lane 25 yard lap pool with water basketball, a 45ft. by 25 ft. family pool and our kiddy pool there is enough water to keep you cool in the summer heat.  We have tables and chairs with umbrellas for gathering and lounge chairs for relaxing and men’s and women’s locker rooms.

While your kids enjoy a day at YMCA Camp Tepee at the YMCA Family Outdoor Center, you can enjoy the pool until camp is out and then spend time as a family once the camp has ended.  Camp Tepee operates from 9:00-3:00.

Throughout the summer we will invite everyone to participate in nature hikes through our trails, try the zip line and climbing wall.  Enjoy our facility after hours for special events which include movie nights at the pool, 4th of July Great American Bash, Y after Dark, BINGO, end of Summer Luau and much more.

Endless Summer Fun

Camp Swim LessonCamp Tepee, Gymnastics Camp and Sports Clinics

You can expect all of the annual favorites including swimming, arts and crafts, archery, sports clinics and gymnastics programs.  Our programs are designed for children from 3-15 years old.

The zip-line was a big hit last year.  We love the opportunity to give our campers an adrenaline rush!

Once again the Discovery Campers will be part of the Camp Tepee’s full day camp program.  Pre and post care options are available for all our campers!

Camp Tepee will also offer a Sibling Discount!

There’s something for every child!  Choose between Camp Tepee, Gymnastics Camp or a Sports Clinic.  Whatever summer program you choose, your camper is sure to have fun, make new friends, grow as a person and make memories that will last a lifetime.
