Get a jump start and fly into summer at the Lakewood-Trumbull YMCA. Learn or perfect your ability to move from point A to point B in the most efficient methods. Increase your out-of-box thinking and reasoning by hurdling over, under, and through obstacles. The summer session begins June 20 and runs for 8 weeks.

Learn the basics on how to protect yourself with 8th Dan Master, Dave Deguzman. This course will teach awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance. You will learn defensive concepts and techniques against various types of assault using easy, effective and proven self-defense / martial arts tactics. The summer session begins June 20 and runs for 8 weeks.

Zoe is a one-year old toddler running for president in 2064. Zoe represents the potential the Y sees in every child. And whether they want to be a teacher, a firefighter or president of the United States, she’s showing that with the Y’s support – all kids have the opportunity to become their best selves.

Are you interested in lifeguarding – but not quite old enough yet? This course is designed to give 11 to 14 year olds a sneak peek into what it takes to become a great lifeguard. We cover all the basics and get you ready to enter the American Red Cross Lifeguarding program when you turn 15. Digital certificate available upon successful completion of course.

Strength Train Together will blast all your muscles with a high-rep weight training workout. Using an adjustable barbell, weight plates and body weight, the workout combines squats, lunges, presses, and curls with functional integrated exercises. Dynamic music and a motivating group atmosphere will get your heart rate up, make you sweat, and push you to a personal best! Getting Started Details

NOW FOR CHILDREN, TEENS, & ADULTS
Whether you’re looking for a fun way to get in some cardio, a new or experienced dancer, this is the class for you! Participants will learn the latest Hip-Hop dance moves, and participate in fun dance exercises while grooving to their favorite tunes in Hip Hop and Pop music! This program begins April 30 & will run for 8 weeks.

Summer Day Camp, like many Y programs, is about learning skills, developing character, making friends and having fun. But few environments are as special as camp, where kids become a community as they learn both how to be more independent and how to contribute to a group as they engage in physical, social and educational activities.
Camp teaches self-reliance, a love for nature and the outdoors and the development of attitudes and practices that build character and leadership—all amidst the fun of songs, games, arts & crafts, and meaningful relationships. Y counselors are dedicated to making sure camp is an amazing experience for every camper. The Y offers experiences for youth entering Pre K through ninth grade with a Counselor in Training program for 14-15 year olds.

If your child is 14-15 years of age, they may be interested in our Counselor in Training program. In our CIT program, they will receive valuable job interviewing skills, child care training, leadership experience, teambuilding and problem solving skills. Our 47 acre facility includes 3 pools, 2 tennis courts a pond for fishing as well as boating, basketball, mini golf, and the pool side grill. Located at 204 Stanley Road in Monroe, the Y Family Outdoor Center is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
The Lakewood-Trumbull YMCA Family Outdoor Center has been serving the community since 1959. Whether you are looking for a relaxing environment to read and lay in the sun, take part in swimming lessons, or our summer swim team, or bring your family for a great experience of fun and exploration. The Lakewood-Trumbull Y has something for everyone. With a 6 lane 25 yard lap pool with water basketball, a 45ft. by 25 ft. family pool and our kiddy pool there is enough water to keep you cool in the summer heat. We have tables and chairs with umbrellas for gathering and lounge chairs for relaxing and men’s and women’s locker rooms.
While your kids enjoy a day at YMCA Camp Tepee at the YMCA Family Outdoor Center, you can enjoy the pool until camp is out and then spend time as a family once the camp has ended. Camp Tepee operates from 9:00-3:00.
Throughout the summer we will invite everyone to participate in nature hikes through our trails, try the zip line and climbing wall. Enjoy our facility after hours for special events which include movie nights at the pool, 4th of July Great American Bash, Y after Dark, BINGO, end of Summer Luau and much more.

The Lakewood-Trumbull YMCA gymnastics team has been inspiring and helping children achieve their goals since the 1980’s. Through the years the Y has produced multiple State and Regional champions as well as State and Regional team championships. Our gymnasts learn, through fun and discipline, the ability to achieve their goals. We believe that if a child believes in themselves and trains hard, then anything, even the amazing sport of Gymnastics can be achieved.
The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program helps adults at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes reduce their risk for developing the disease by taking steps that will improve their overall health and well-being. Research by the National Institutes of Health has shown that programs like the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program can reduce the number of new cases of type 2 diabetes by 58%, and 71% in adults over the age of 60.
