Race 4 Chase Triathlon Program

Race 4 Chase Triathlon Program

Race 4 Chase (formerly Achieve), is named for Chase Kowalski, an amazing little boy from Newtown, who loved to run. Race 4 Chase strives to empower kids to reach their full potential.

Registration is for children ages 6-12 years old wishing to participate in the Race 4 Chase Triathlon Program. This program provides youth with a fun, skill building, life-changing experience by introducing them to the sport of triathlon.  LWT Race for Chase Triathlon Program Application

This free program runs for 6 weeks beginning Monday, June 23, 2014 and ending Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the Lakewood-Trumbull YMCA.  Program times are 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. daily, Monday – Friday. Race day is the culmination of the program for the three YMCA Race 4 Chase programs at YMCA Camp Mataucha in Watertown on Saturday, August 2, 2014.  All participants will compete in a Youth Triathlon on this day.

The application (LWT Race for Chase Triathlon Program Application) needs to be completed by both parent/guardian and child wishing to participate in the program.  Please answer all questions; if you have additional children, each child must have a separate application.

Due to limited enrollment, applications will be evaluated based on several factors. Selection priority will be given to first time registrations, a demonstration of need, and those indicating a sincere desire to participate for the complete duration of the program.

You will be notified if your child has been selected into the program. If selected, completion of a registration packet is required.

Deadline applications are due back no later than May 1, 2014

Please return application to Jeb Backus at jbackus@cccymca.org or at the Lakewood-Trumbull YMCA 20 Trefoil Drive, Trumbull CT 06611

Build a Happier, Healthier Kid!

Summer is the time for kids to get up, get out and grow. But for some kids, exposure to activities that stimulate the body and mind ends with the school year. In fact, research shows that kids are prone to gain more weight and fall behind in studies. On April 26, the Y will celebrate Healthy Kids Day, our national initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids.

Team sports at the Y build character and self-esteem. Participants cultivate values, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health and educational achievement. Kids will not only learn the fundamentals and how to work together on a team, but also who they are and what they can achieve.

Our programs include gymnastics, dance, soccer, basketball, baseball, tennis and more.  We also offer more advanced classes for children who have taken our sports classes before.
