Get ready for summer with a weeklong swim intensive!  The perfect jump start for swimming this season!

When: June 18-22 Monday through Friday

Classes:  4:15 – 4:45pm  Stage 1 Preschool / Stage 1 School Age / Stage 2 School Age / Stage 4 School Age

Splash into Summer

Half Day Swim School

A great way for your child to learn to swim or improve their stokes with two lessons each day!  Your child will swim, learn water safety, enjoy a snack, and have lots of fun!  Swim school is 5 days per week for ages 3 to 9.

Time: 9:00 am – 12:00pm or 1:00 pm -4:00pm

Fees: $200 Member / $275 Community Member

Celebrate Memorial Day at the Y

Parade Parking

Park at the Y and watch the Memorial Day parade with your friends! Front row seats in front of the Y.  Come early, lot opens at 8am, streets will be closed one hour before the start of the parade at 10am. Green space, snacks, and restrooms available.  Preregistration is encouraged.  All donations go to our Annual Campaign.

Help Keep Your Kids Safe

YMCA-A_300x250-FINALDuring May, we will be offering Safety Around Water, a free program designed to engage and educate families about the importance of water safety skills.

Through the Safety Around Water program, parents and caregivers will be encouraged to help their children learn fundamental water safety and swimming skills.  During the course, child will learn how to respond if they find themselves in unexpected water situations – – from how to reach the water’s surface if they submerge to safely reaching a pool’s edge or exiting any body of water.

Women’s Wellness Weekend

Women’s Wellness Weekend at Camp Hi-Rock

Join us the weekend of June 1-3 for activities such as dance, yoga, low & high ropes, massages, creative crafts, waterfront activities and of course, delicious, healthy food!

Since 2007, YMCA Camp Hi-Rock has been hosting a weekend just for women and girls. Don’t just dream about relaxation to start your summer- experience it! All meals, lodging and activities are included for the weekend and one night and day passes are also available.

Life Skills Save Lives

Become a Certified Lifeguard!

If you’re 15 or older and looking for a great part time job or a challenging career, that’s in demand, the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Program is one of the best places to start.

Learning is fun and easy! Through videos, group discussion and hands-on practice, you’ll learn—

  • Rescue skills for use in the water and on land.
  • First aid and professional rescuer CPR/AED training to help you prepare for an emergency.
  • Professional lifeguard responsibilities.
  • Surveillance skills to help you recognize and prevent injuries.

Prerequisites:

  • Swim a minimum of 550 yards continuously in a prone position.
  • Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs.
  • Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
  • Swim 20 yards, feet-first surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10 pound object return to
  • surface swim 20 yards hold object with both hands keeping face at or near pool surface.
  • Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.
  • Swim 5 yards, submerge and retrieve three dive rings placed 5 yards apart in 4 to 7 feet of water, resurface, and swim 5 yards to the side of the pool.

Spring Programs Focus on Safety Around Water

The Y – for teaching Safety Around Water.

The Y, nurtures the potential and unites communities to create lasting and meaningful change. Everything the Y does is in service of building a better us. One of the ways, we accomplish this is by teaching youth, teens and adults to swim and be safe around the water and learn the skills needed to make swimming a lifelong pursuit for staying healthy.

Y Leaders Club

Calling all Fairfield teenagers!

Leaders Club provides high school students with extensive leadership training, offering opportunities for service to the YMCA and the community. Leaders Club also serves as a recruiting program for future Y professionals! We are here to develop leaders, fostering with them a culture of service in addition to knowledge and training that will help them better serve others and shape a healthy and productive life for themselves. Leaders Club meets once a week. Members also participate in social events, service projects and have the opportunity to go on several trips. Leaders Club provides a safe, genuine place for high schoolers and helps direct their energy to positive outcomes.

When:  Thursdays at 6:30pm

Summer Day Camp

Summer is an ideal time for children to get out and explore.  A chance to enjoy recreational and educational activities that help them learn, grow and thrive. Do you remember your best summer ever? Was your best summer a combination of exploration, activity, education, friends and fun? For families looking to keep their children’s minds and bodies active, the Y can  give them an adventurous, active and healthy summer.

Camp Badakookala, Discovery and Sunshine Camps provide a fun and unique experience that gives children and teens the opportunity to explore, meet new friends, discover new interests and create memories that last a lifetime.

If your child is 14-15 years of age, they may be interested in our Counselor in Training program. In our CIT program, they will receive valuable job interviewing skills, child care training, leadership experience, team building and problem solving skills.  To apply please fill out the application and contact the Y for an interview.
