Elm City Y at nightThe Elm City YMCA is centrally located in the heart of New Haven overlooking the historic New Haven Green. Devoted to promoting healthy living, the Elm City Y focuses on personal wellness programs for the adult New Haven community.

The wellness center with a panoramic view of New Haven is staffed with personal trainers to help you meet your wellness goals. State of the art Life Fitness cardiovascular and strength training equipment is available with an area for stretching and functional exercises. Group exercise classes are available at convenient hours.

Free, two hour parking is offered to members after 2:00 pm in the Omni New Haven Hotel at Yale Parking Garage directly below the Elm City Y. No need to leave the garage to enter – just follow the signs to the stairwell. The Omni Garage entrance is on Temple Street.

Help Keep Your Kids Safe

YMCA-A_300x250-FINALDuring June, we will be offering Safety Around Water, a free program designed to engage and educate families about the importance of water safety skills.

Through the Safety Around Water program, parents and caregivers will be encouraged to help their children learn fundamental water safety and swimming skills.  During the course, child will learn how to respond if they find themselves in unexpected water situations – – from how to reach the water’s surface if they submerge to safely reaching a pool’s edge or exiting any body of water.

Women’s Wellness Weekend

FlowerSince 2007, YMCA Camp Hi-Rock has been hosting a weekend at camp just for women and girls to kick off summer right!

We’re back at it again in 2017 and registration is now open for another wonderful weekend.

Please consider joining us June 2 – 4 for a relaxing weekend of dance, yoga, low & high ropes, massages, creative crafts, waterfront activities and of course, delicious, healthy food! All meals, lodging and activities are included for the weekend and one night and day passes are also available.

SLEEPAWAY CAMP!

Hi Rock 1YMCA Camp Hi-Rock is a youth sleep-away camp located in Western Massachusetts. We are nestled among 1,000 acres in the Berkshire Mountains, surrounded by conservation forest, and centered around our pristine, private, ninety-acre lake. This gives us the ideal backdrop for the wide variety of activities we offer, which include swimming, climbing, water skiing, archery, sailing and arts & crafts among many others. Through the values of the YMCA, Camp Hi-Rock is dedicated to the growth and development of all of the participants we serve. We seek to help each camper develop his or her sense of personal worth and responsibility as a cooperative member of a group. In addition, we want campers to discover, learn, cultivate new skills, develop healthy lifestyles, create meaningful relationships, and become more caring, honest, respectful and responsible people.

  • Meet with a one of our certified personal trainers and talk about your fitness goals;
  • Share any physical limitations or barriers to exercise that you may experience;
  • Talk about past medical or health concerns – things that we should be aware of when prescribing you a   workout program.
  • Take a quick physical assessment to ensure the proper exercise selection and progression.
