Alpha Community Services YMCA
Almost everyone wants to take control of their lives and become productive community members. When adults and families have a low-cost place to live that is comfortable and safe, they can then tackle the issues of employment and education, and ultimately become integrated again into functioning society. Alpha Community Services YMCA addresses the needs of homeless families and individuals by providing emergency shelter, transitional housing and permanent supportive housing.
The YMCA has a demonstrated record for developing creative and effective strategies that respond to the challenges faced by individuals and families in our community. For the Alpha Community Services Y, helping to build a generation of healthy and supportive families through quality programs and services is simply a way of life. The benefits of Alpha’s program can be seen in many ways, including:
- Alpha Community Services Y is the largest provider of supportive housing in Fairfield County and operates the only family emergency shelter in the City of Bridgeport.
- More than just a place to sleep, our housing facilities offer services such as case management, job training and continuing education classes.
- While many of our residents may not have any other support networks, the Y’s housing gave 892 individuals, including more than 400 children, a sense of community and a place to belong last year.
